Install the downloaded file, ezsetup.msi, to your PC
— not to a server.
Start E-Z Audit at your PC and read the "Welcome Message" which
includes the option of auditing your own PC so you can see what E-Z
Audit can inventory, then
Read the Quick Start Guide
to get started auditing your PCs.
Here is a summary of the steps to get started auditing
your PCs
1) Create two folders on your server. Example:
\\your_server_name\ezaudit\audits
If you share folders from the
server's D: drive, it would be
D:\ezaudit\audits.
We will refer to it this way in the next steps.
2) Give the
\ezaudit
folder read, write, create, delete, execute permissions
for the Everyone group (or Domain Users or equivalent
that covers all your PC users), and the same for the
..\audits
folder
3) Copy ezscan.exe and ezstart.exe from the C:\Program
Files\EZAudit\Scanner folder on your PC to the server
location D:\ezaudit
4) Create a configuration file at your PC via the Tools
> Configure automated audits menu. Copy the
config.ezc file from the folder you saved it to the
D:\ezaudit
folder on your server.
5) Add one line to your logon script:
\\your_server_name\ezaudit\ezstart.exe /auto
Windows Vista and
Windows 7 users:
This applies only to the installation to your PC and is not
related to auditing Vista or Windows 7 PCs.
You do not
need to be an Administrator at your PC to run the admin console.
However, depending on your UAC settings, you may need to run the
installer at your PC (and only at your PC, not for auditing) as an
Administrator.
